Posing for a Photographer in Rosita, Colorado, 1913
Coming in 2025!
“Hold Up!” in front of the Barry Family’s cabin, behind the bunkhouse on the Schriver Ranch. Willie Cowan, Pete Cowan, Alex Cowan, Art Jamison, John Hunt, with Art’s young cousin, Edmond Barry
Born in Pueblo in 1891 and orphaned as an infant, Arthur Jamison was raised by his German grandparents on the ranch they were homesteading near Rosita, Colorado. In his late 70s, Art wrote this memoir about his earlier years. A gifted storyteller, Art recalled incidents from his childhood and schoolboy days, his experiences growing up as a young Colorado cowboy, events that took place in the community of Rosita and in the rowdy silver and gold mining camps nearby.
Anna Rose Barry, MS, MFA, has edited Art Jamison's stories and has compiled them into this 270 page, 8x10 book, adding more than 275 historical photographs and illustrations. Having extensively researched details of events that Art had recalled in his stories, Anna has included this research in footnotes, sidebars adjacent to the stories, and appendixes. Anna is planning to complete the book and see it through to publication in 2025.
